Chinese authorities are trying to contain coronavirus virus infections with targeted lockdowns, mass testing of residents and transport shutdowns in a bid to return to zero cases before the Beijing Winter Olympics open on February 4, 2021. An outbreak in the capital has prompted a tightening of measures in three Beijing districts. Cross-provincial tour groups have been suspended in five areas including Beijing since October 24. The Beijing marathon was also postponed and a similar event in Wuhan was cancelled.
