Jordanian’s National Centre for Security and Crisis Management has announced new precautionary measures on Sunday, to curb the spread of coronavirus variants.
The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has outlined that its internal tourism programs and the entry of the tourist attractions in Jordan will be restricted to the vaccinated people, in a statement.
"The Petra Visitor Centre is the first stop through which the visitor enters the archaeological site. Therefore, the authorities require all visitors to reveal the vaccination certificate upon their entry, otherwise, they are prohibited from entry. Moreover, we make sure that wearing masks and adherence to the COVID-19 global protocol is mandatory to enter the site," Yassin al-Saideh, Director of the Petra Visitor Centre stated.“
"In the beginning, we were asked to be given a certification of vaccine, as well as a temperature check, as well as if you have a PCR negative test you can also give it to them,” Mandmandu, a tourist from Indonesia said.
“Overall I said that the government has made a pretty good organisation regarding the entrance and control in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. as you can see, is still very beautiful despite the presence of covid there are health protocols that are applied in order for you to enjoy the visit to Petra at the very fullest,” he added.
On Sunday, Jordan reported 36 deaths related to COVID-19 and 4,012 new cases, increasing the caseload to 943,305, and the COVID-19 death toll to 11,551 since the start of the pandemic.

It's not crowded this season, since it's the end of the high season so we think it's one of the best places to visit right now."
