Why are there supply shortages in the UK?

Businesses across Britain have reported major problems in their supply chains in recent months leaving some shop shelves empty, or forcing restaurants to remove items from their menus.

There is estimated to be a shortfall of around 100,000 lorry drivers - triggered by an exodus of foreign nationals during the pandemic and post-Brexit immigration rules, which is affecting stock levels in supermarkets and fast food chains.
