Unemployment Extension Update: State Departments Including CA EDD Confirm They Will Not Be Able To Extend Unemployment Benefits on their own. According to a CNBC Make It news article these states have confirmed Unemployment benefits will not be extended: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Hawaii, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oregon,
Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming. Those states are listed on the map with black horizontal lines. States with red horizontal lines are presumed that they won’t be extending benefits even though they did not specifically comment because they tried to end programs like PUA, PEUC and the $300 boost early. It is true that AOC Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and other progressives want to extend unemployment benefits but even she admits that it would meet opposition in the Senate and that any efforts would not be successful until after Labor Day when the benefits are set to expire.

* I think everyone should be able to get ahold of the CA EDD for free, I still advocate calling (833) 978-2511 the best days to call the EDD are Tuesday through Saturday, the best times to call the EDD are right when they open at 8:00 to 8:15 or later in the afternoon around 2:30 - 4:00 then after the long intro message quickly hit 1,3,4.
