Fox News host Bill Hemmer claims that he stormed out of a restaurant after they asked to see a photo ID to go along with his vaccine card. He said that he had given them other things with his name on it, but when they asked for an actual photo ID he left because apparently that was a bridge too far. The odds of this story being true are very slim, but assuming this did happen, what was the actual objection? Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins dives into the issue.

Fox news host, Bill Hemmer announced this week, that recently he had gone to a restaurant and at the restaurant, they wanted to see proof of vaccination. He showed them proof of vaccination. But then according to him or himself, when they asked for a photo ID to, you know, make sure that's him, he stormed out of the restaurant. Here he is, Bill Hemmer on Fox news, telling the story of how he got so mad about being asked for a photo ID, take a look.
The movie theaters today. Uh, you, you got a friend who's getting a restaurant and they'd been. On 10th avenue or ninth avenue. Excuse me. I think that like in one week they got visitors, visit from the health department three times. Like, are you sure? Are you ready? Are you prepared? And they, they couldn't answer a lot of questions that my friend had, but they're going to be out there. I popped into a restaurant three weeks ago. They said, sir, can we see your vaccination card? I said I don't have my vaccination card, but I do have the app. And I downloaded that and I showed it to them and they said, sir, can we see something with your name on it? I said, here's my Amex. Here's my visa. They said, sir, can we see a card with your picture on it? So did you show Fox news that badge? I turned around, walked out and said, you guys can have it. Good luck. The joint was empty. Yeah. So. But they're under pressure, indeed.
That sounds like a totally believable and real story. Like that's definitely a thing that totally 100% happened to Mr. Hemmer there. Uh, you know what though, for a moment, let's give him the benefit of the doubt. Let's pretend that this story actually did happen. What's your beef with it? Like why are you upset that they wanted to see a photo ID to match your name to your face to your vaccine card? You know, if you go into a liquor store and get carded, you can't show them your American express card or your visa card. They got to have the photo ID. There's been lots of people out there selling fake vaccine passports, vaccine cards. So they just want to make sure that either one, that is you with this vaccine card, two, that everything matches up and three, that you have a good lunch or dinner or whatever the hell it is you were going in there for.
But no, no, no, no. He has no problem showing them his credit cards. But you ask for his photo ID and oh man. That's when things get nutty. I think what really happened here, if this story happened at all, was that Mr. Hemmer was annoyed that they didn't recognize him. But Bill, I got news for you, buddy. You're not one of the popular people on Fox news. Like you're not one of the household names on Fox news. You are probably not going to walk into somewhere and get recognized. Maybe eventually, maybe a patron or two would be like, hey, I've seen that guy on Fox news. Sure, sure. Happens to me sometimes. But it's not like you're Tucker Carlson walking into a room where everybody says, oh my God, there's Tucker. No, Bill. You haven't achieved that status yet. So of course people would want to see your photo ID. They don't know who you are.
And that I think folks is what drove him crazy. And that's why the co-host, they was like, did you show them your Fox news ID badge? Oh, look at me. Look at how important I am. I have a Fox news ID. Yeah. Nobody cares. Nobody cares. That's New York City. Right? They meet famous people all the time and they still don't care.
