Israeli Prime Minister-Designate Benjamin Netanyahu has heaped praise on Donald Trump over his commitment to Israel, saying it was "tremendously fortunate" the former US president came to power.

Mr Netanyahu made the remarks via video link to guests attending the Republican Jewish Coalition annual leadership meeting in Las Vegas on Saturday.
