Basic push ups are a fantastic exercise for developing the pressing musculature. For the vast majority of people, push ups done well, will be a useful exercise their entire life. However, it's always nice to change things up and challenge our muscles in a different way. By elevating our hands, slowing our tempo down, and adding a pause, we can take the simple push up and modify it to the point where it is exceptionally hard, without having to weight it, introduce instability, or perform tricks. This simple variation is POWERFUL. Cycle it into your training, and watch your pressing muscles grow.
