In this video Heimler walks you through Unit 4 Topic 3 of the AP Government curriculum which is all about how our political ideologies change. Many factors can influence our ideologies, but we focus on two in this video: generational effects and life-cycle effects.
Depending on a person's generation, they are more likely to lean right or left, conservative or liberal. For example, as a group, the Silent Generation votes more conservative, while Millennials vote more liberal.
Additionally, life-cycle effects can contribute to change in a person's ideology. The issues that are important to a person when they're 18 are not necessary the same issues they care about at 70.
