Amid the global media frenzy caused by the Sussex's appearance on Global Citizen Live in New York, experts are saying that Prince Harry is rapidly losing his popularity.
All last week, the British royal family was in the American public eye during their business visit to New York. However, Forbes columnist Guy Martin argues that Prince Harry's popularity is rapidly declining in his native Britain because the British no longer believe the Sussexes.
Judging by opinion polls in Britain, Harry is losing ground. Of course, this fact does not affect him in any way and has little bearing on his current endeavors. But the reason he is losing popularity is that Britons have simply stopped believing what he says, Martin writes.
And it's not just the fact of his clumsy exit from royalty, though it's a very painful process that's still going on, the Forbes columnist argues.
According to a YouGov poll, 34% of Britons have a positive opinion of Harry, whereas back in April that number was higher at 43%. Meghan Markle is also losing ground in the public ratings, down from 29% in April to 26% in September.
According to Guy Martin, Harry's precipitous drop in ratings is partly the result of the couple simultaneously working on several fronts. That is, they're grabbing at everything: saving people from pandemics, helping children, women, mental health care, writing books, releasing movies...
In short, it takes a huge mechanism to get all these well-intentioned initiatives going, which is natural. But! It's all a bit of a mess, says Guy Martin.
Harry and Meghan's recent trip to New York is expected to help raise their profile in the United States, but not in the prince's native Britain.
