Manchester United are allegedly at the head of the queue for Borussia Dortmund’s Norway international Erling Braut Haaland’s signature in the summer transfer market of 2022.
The attacking sensation seems set to remain at the club for the 2021-22 season, with Thomas Tuchel’s side Chelsea understood to have had a proposal rejected while Die Borussen can afford to play hardball over a sum.
However, Haaland’s £68 million release clause will be active by the time the next summer market rolls around, and an intense battle for the player’s services is set to commence at the end of this campaign.
According to a report from Bild, Erling will “definitely” be on his way out of the Signal Iduna Park outfit after the current season, and United are in driving seat to sign the former Red Bull Salzburg ace.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was tipped to bring his fellow countryman to Old Trafford earlier in the summer, but Edinson Cavani’s contract extension allowed the Red Devils to prioritise other zones in the transfer window.
